After a very successful 2011 season, Green Thunder Percussion will begin its 5th season of offering serious students an advanced comprehensive percussion studies program designed to improve rudimental and orchestral percussion skills in the Chicagoland area. The organization is open to gentlemen under the age of 22, and concurrently serves as an ideal preparation resource for those interested in auditioning for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Through performance opportunities in competitive and non-competitive environments throughout the Midwest, Green Thunder Percussion provides a percussion outlet for advanced players under the instruction of some of the most talented and skilled percussive educators in the nation.
Two audition dates will be held in October, and the performance season will continue through April 2012. Prospective members that audition and are accepted should plan on regular attendance and a serious personal commitment. Almost all scheduling conflicts can be worked out, and certain activities such as school performances and college auditions will take precedent. These will all be worked out at the beginning of the season. All performance dates are required as are a handful of blackout weekends which will be communicated at the beginning of the season. Two Sunday prep classes for prospective GTP members will present the musical approach and body movement required of the group.
